Happy little lion. I'm definitely getting a lion vibe at the moment.
It's a bit too cliche, but Kingston loves them at the moment, so I might have to tweak and play to come up with a cool variant.



Every boy loves dinosaurs, and king is a little obsessed, his bed is covered with them. But I think this one would eat all the others and poop stuffing for a week, he's huuuuge!



I love how this kid is such a runner that not only is she wearing a harness, but that it has bells on it just in case she does escape.

I don't like thrifting, oh no. I love it!

Just a few patterns I've picked up this last week on my op shop journeys. I'm a bit in love with the seventies funk / dorky look at the moment. (thinking back to my youth of skivvies and brown cords!) so I'm definitely going to be trying out a few of these patterns over the holidays. See if I can adapt any of them and get some inspiration for the new winter line next year. No outright copies though- aside from being naughty, it's just plain lazy as a designer.





















Speaking of holidays, we'll be taking off December 18th through to the end of January (unless I get bored earlier), so highly unlikely that there'll be any shop updates during that time. I will blog and blather a lot though, as I'll spend the 'break' designing next season and working on patterns and such.
Ok, off to watch a roller derby grand final at the showgrounds, yeah! Toodles!

Porkie pie mark2

Very happy with how the pork pie hat has turned out. Soooo fracking cute! I think I need to tweak the pattern a little more so the seam on the top shapes it better & so less blocking is required. But otherwise it's pretty sweet.

BUT
I think for the time involved and the price I need to charge to cover my costs it ends up much more expensive than similar hats being sold by larger retailers. So not viable at this stage. Ah well, maybe in the future.

New 'skipper' hat shape- meh?

Although very cute, I'm just not feeling the love for this hat. It's only in sampling fabric, but I just seem to feel meh about it.
Maybe it needs to be a fraction larger and the crown a little rounder?
What do you think?

Grading patterns is duuuuuulllll

Been grading my patterns into size 1,2,3. Which is soooooo dull and time consuming but costs upwards of $40 per style per size to outsource so nowhere near an option yet.
And then begins the cutting marathon. Figure I'll make 1pc size 1, 2x2's, 2x3's of everything. Hope that's enough. I know I shot myself in the foot a bit by planning too many styles, but hey, it's what I do! Hmmm lemme think, I have 3 pants, 3 shorts, 6 short sleeve tees and prints, 2 long sleeve tees and prints, 4 shirts, a fleece hoody, a knit hoody, a vest, a waist coat, ties and bow ties, grandpa caps and pork pies and peaked caps, treasure bags and wooly dress up moustaches. Whew! Thank jeebers I canned the jacket, cardigan, school bag, stripe pants and 2 more tees!!!
Oh and I've done the maths (very badly, it's been a looong time since I did maths1 in yr 12) and it seems I need to do at least 2hrs a night in addition to my 2 full days a week in order to get all the sewing done. And yeah, that includes the weekends.
So here's hoping nothing drastic goes wrong and I come up with some spiffy short cuts to help get me through.
Know what's nice though? Jim (mr Furious) said he's going to make me lots of dinners and cakes and yummy goodies to get me through. Yay!

Jarmies

After a few trials an errors I think I have a pretty nice pattern for some lounge pants / jarmies coming along for summer. A nice flat front with elastic at the back (no, not hanging out like that, I just didn't know how long to make it), and a straight leg that sits nicely on the hips and under the tum. I'm not into the kiddy pants that have a high rise and go up to the armpits!

And strangely my iPhone auto spell wants to change 'jarmies' to 'marmosets'. ???
